Warts

Verruca (warts) can affect any part of the skin.  These growths are caused by a virus, the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).  They are often asymptomatic but can be itchy, painful, tender and even bleed when irritated.  There are many treatments for warts.  When over-the counter remedies do not provide improvement there are numerous additional treatments that can be provided by a dermatologist.  In addition to the over the counter products, warts can be treated with salicylic acid, cantharidin, cryosurgery, electrosurgery, surgical removal, and with the use of injections into the growths.
